Motion Equals Healthy: Bahati Foundation Expands NYC Impact During Harlem Skyscraper Cycling Classic Weekend
P.S. 18 – Bronx, NY (June 18)
Harlem Skyscraper Cycling Classic – Harlem, NY (June 21)
Pedaling Toward Play Equity
In 2026, the Bahati Foundation expands its NYC footprint through a strategic collaboration with a community partner,
Equity Design, delivering a model that aligns with community-based, culturally relevant bike education and access.
Together with Black Girls Do Bike NYC, Friends of the Children New York, and the Major Taylor Iron Riders & Development Team, the initiative brings together a powerful coalition focused on:
Youth mentorship and leadership
Safe and accessible cycling education
Representation and inclusion within the sport
“This year, we’re proud to expand our outreach through P.S. 18 in partnership with Equity Design, while continuing to build with our NYC alliance partners and the Harlem Skyscraper Cycling Classic community. This is what Motion Equals Healthy is about—meeting youth where they are and creating opportunity through movement.”
In addition to the P.S. 18 clinic, the weekend culminates with a Motion Equals Healthy Bike Clinic & Fun Ride activation in Harlem, at Marcus Garvey Park, during the annual Harlem Skyscraper Cycling Classic, where youth and families will participate in:
Hands-on bike safety instruction
Skills and riding demonstrations
Youth ride experience along the race course
