Why We Ride: Finish the Ride for Safer Streets
Every year, thousands of cyclists are injured or killed on roads that weren’t designed with them in mind. In 2022 alone, over 1,080 cyclists lost their lives in crashes with motor vehicles, marking the highest number ever recorded in the U.S. Even more alarming, more than 46,000 cyclists were injured that same year. These aren’t just numbers—they’re lives, families, and futures forever changed.
At the Bahati Foundation, we refuse to accept these statistics as normal.
That’s why we’re proud to team up with SAFE (Streets Are Safe for Everyone) for the upcoming Finish the Ride: Metric Century Ride—a bold, action-driven event that raises awareness around traffic violence and demands safer streets for all.
When is Finish the Ride?
June 1st, 2025 62-mile rides.
Location for all events:
The Autry Museum: 4700 Western Heritage Way, Los Angeles, CA 90027
Why This Ride Matters
For the past 3 years, the Bahati Foundation joins the ride—not only to honor victims of traffic collisions, but to push forward a mission we live by every day: empowering youth, advocating for equity, and making cycling safer for everyone. For our community, riding a bike isn’t just about fitness or fun. It’s about freedom, access, and visibility—especially for youth of color in underserved neighborhoods where safe infrastructure is often lacking.
Through Finish the Ride, we’re standing with advocates, survivors, and supporters across California to say: every street should be a safe street. Every child deserves to ride without fear. Every parent should know their child will make it home.
